ICL with Eye
Implantable Contact Lens Surgery (ICL) is a vision correction surgery where a lens is inserted into the eye to correct the refractive error.

The method of inserting the lens into the eye is divided into anterior implantation, where the lens is placed in front of the iris, and posterior implantation, where the lens is placed behind the iris.

EVO+ Visian ICL: Advanced Collamer Technology for Superior Vision

The EVO+ Visian ICL is the only FDA-approved latest model of posterior lens.

The material of this lens is Collamer, which is composed of collagen and co-polymer, with 40% of the lens made of water.

When inserting a lens inside the eye, the most important factor to consider is glare caused by internal reflection. The refraction index increases as light passes through materials with different refractive indices, meaning the difference in refractive index is greatest at the points where the materials meet or cross.

The hydrophobic properties of Collamer create a high hydration layer on the lens surface, minimizing the refractive index difference between the ICL and the aqueous humor, which helps reduce reflection.

The light transmission and reflection patterns of Collamer are nearly identical to that of the human crystalline lens, minimizing glare and optical aberrations, thereby enhancing the quality of vision after surgery.

Additionally, Collamer material does not cause protein deposition compared to acrylic.

Posterior implant lenses do not affect the corneal endothelium, but they have been criticized for obstructing the flow of aqueous humor and potentially causing cataracts as side effects.

However, the EVO+ Visian ICL minimizes these issues by creating a drainage channel in the center of the lens and improving the design of the optical zone, effectively reducing the risk of these complications.
Lens implantation surgery can be performed without pain, using topical anesthesia in the form of eye drops.

The latest EVO+ Visian ICL has already been proven for its effectiveness and safety through numerous research papers and surgical cases.
